Grace Hopper is a truly wonderful conference -- I've gone three times now, and it is the best conference I've ever been to! Have fun! Be sure to go to the newcomer session at the very beginning. It helps set the tone for the whole event.

This is a fantastic event, and I don't want what I'm about to say to be taken as a criticism of the event -- I am ONLY about to criticize the graphic design of that poster. There are things to like about it; I love the way all three women look directly at the viewer, for example.

It just seems to me that the white woman does not need that amount of foregrounding. She is both in front of and significantly larger than her sisters beside her, making her the clear focal point. I'm pleased that the poster at least includes women of color, but the overall effect of the composition strikes me as yet another case of "some are more equal than others," which could and IMO should have been avoided.

FWIW, which may not be much.

FWIW, which may not be much.
